Downtown Boston has a new dining spot that pays homage to the history of the city and sits right by Faneuil Hall. The White Bull Tavern has officially opened at 1 Union St., serving pizzas, skillet-cooked appetizers, and more.
“William Blackstone was a pioneer, a man of many trades and talents, and a legend in his own right. We took that inspiration and turned it into a new concept that is a modern-day meeting place,” said owner Jeff Baird in a release, promising “something for everyone” at the restaurant, from mid-day snacking to late-night dining.
The restaurant has a raw bar with eight seats, serving a selection of oysters that changes daily. Appetizers, which are served in cast-iron skillets, include lollipop lamb chops, meatballs, roasted Brussels sprouts, and pan-seared scallops. The main menu features several pizzas, including a particularly meaty one topped with pepperoni, prosciutto, and salami. In addition to pre-set pizzas, there are customizations available, along with sandwiches and salads. Entrees rotate weekly.
To drink, there are 24 beers on draft and cocktails served in non-traditional vessels, like antique tea cups and champagne buckets. The White Bull Tavern operates daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. In the coming months, the restaurant will debut late-night and weekend brunch menus.
